Who Is Big Sky Cinema?

Big Sky Cinema has been set up by Lara Leslie and Victoria Holden

Lara Leslie is an artist, videographer & animator with 20 years’ experience. Lara has worked on television programmes & documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery and others. She has also spent much time producing her own stop-motion animations. This led to work with animation studios Blue Zoo, Fudge & Jelly Fish Productions.

In 2016, having moved back to Sussex and with two little boys of her own, Lara set up Press Play Films (a project where children might become the film producers and animators of tomorrow). Since 2016, Lara has helped hundreds of children (in schools, galleries and museums) to produce films and animations.

Victoria Holden is an award-winning journalist and producer/director who has worked at the BBC for 20 years in TV and radio, in news and current affairs. She now juggles family life with two young sons and runs an independent production company based in Sussex called Chalk Films. Victoria feels passionately about the arts and education, and enjoys being part of the local community.  She is an ambassador for the BBC School Report in East Sussex, working with school children to make, tell and then broadcast their stories on BBC News, and is also a mentor for the Girls’ Network, a charity that empowers young girls from the least advantaged backgrounds into employment and business.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, Lara and Victoria have sought to diversify their businesses. Being avid film lovers and really missing cinema and other live events has led to their exciting new venture Big Sky Cinema. Thank you for your support with our new venture!
